Since 2008, de Souza Institute in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario and the University Health Network Ontario has been providing ongoing educational support, professional development and career counseling to nurses caring for cancer patients and families. Through our courses health care professionals like nurses are armed with the latest information and expertise to support patients and families. The cost of courses range from $99 to $399 for Ontario nurses- this is lesser than the cost to develop, refine and deliver de Souza courses.

Nurses also have the option of working towards a Designation, which showcases their expertise in cancer care. The de Souza Designation is recognized by nurses, employers, policy makers and the public as the latest standard in cancer care nursing and excellence. Nurses who have completed their de Souza Designation are known as being the best in cancer care and are sought out by health care employers.

de Souza Institute also offers Expert Facilitator Series in either psychosocial care, palliative care and end of life care and chemotherapy and biotherapy. This series is open to all health care professionals that care for patients with cancer. Participant must be already involved in the area of clinical education and have obtained the management support to build capacity locally.

de Souza Institute also offers study groups to nurses preparing for the Canadian Nurses’ Association specialty certification in oncology and palliative care. In Ontario, there has been a significant increase in the number of certified nurses thanks to the de Souza Institute study groups.
